I still remember when I first listened to Souvlaki as a teenager. The opening of Souvlaki Space Station just blew my mind wide open and still gives me the shivers now. The ‘shoegazers‘ were being usurped by the growing Brit-pop and grunge ‘movements’ in the early to mid 1990’s but this album (if I remember correctly) did relatively well. This hypnotic, surreal yet loud album (which features Brian Eno on some tracks) was Slowdive‘s musical peak and is a real treasure in anyone’s music collection.
