A village in the late 1800s that was established in Singapore by the Bugis from Sulawesi

Other than the really artful copyright text on all their pictures, PictureSG from Singapore’s National Library has a nice collection of historic photos.

Kampong Bugis today is not a kampung anymore and in fact, up to the late 90s, the old Kallang Gas Works was right next to it. From what I can remember, Kampong Bugis is now home to a scattering of factory buildings, a Hindu temple, a park and a nice cafe frequented by the cool kids.
