So I found out today that Google has a free, publicly available NTP server at time.google.com.
I already use Google’s public DNS service on some devices, so I wanted to see what other free, useful, easy-to-use stuff there was on Google Developers.
I could not find a suitable GIF to show far down my jaw dropped when I saw the alphabetical list of developer products in there. From the Prediction API to Mobile Vision, there’s so much stuff to explore, learn and find out about, but there’s so little… time.
I think I nearly threw up watching this full-screen. (I’m definitely buying the album though.)

It turns out, we often fail to think about the tedious minutia that is likely to be involved in what we consider to be our ideal job and how it might fall short of our expectations. In fact, psychologists even have a name for it: “affective forecasting”. What this means is we often have an unrealistic hopefulness that new situations will make us feel significantly different in a grass-is-always-greener mentality.
There’s really a lot of plasticity in the way the cells are responding to infection that is directly controlled by social status. If you can change your social condition, your immune gene expression is going to look a lot more like where you are now, instead of where you used to be in the past.
